Meditation is not only important to the development of mediumship, but also in the development and understanding of `SELF’.
Why meditate?
There are many reasons to meditate apart from the fact that it is good for you!
Meditation can be and is used for health reasons, to relieve stress and anxiety. A twenty minute meditation session can have more benefits than sleep itself. During sleep our mind is still active, we toss and turn, we are not completely relaxed. However during meditation we relax our minds and our bodies, bringing stillness and calm, slowing down our breathing and heart rate.
Why is meditation important for mediums?
Apart from the beneficial reasons given above good mediumship requires a `still mind’, the more the mind is still, the stronger and clearer the communication with spirit. This is what regular meditation achieves.
However we do not enter a state of meditation to `link’ (communicate) with spirit, we calm our minds to allow the communicating spirit to communicate with or through us.
Through regular practiced meditation we train our minds to become more still, we become more aware of our bodies; our own energy field (Aura), therefore this helps us when communicating with spirit, because we become more aware of their presence due to the changes in our energy field, and, because our mind is more still, we are more able to distinguish between those that are own thoughts, and those which are the thoughts of spirit.
